2018 NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS - SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 74

Public Notice is given to the electors within Electoral Area of School District No. 74 (Gold Trail) for the office of School Trustee as follows:

• Area A: Villages of Gold Bridge/Bralorne, Seton Portage, Shalalth       and surrounding rural areas     1 (one) position
• Area B:  Rural and surrounding area of Lillooet    
1 (one) position

• Area C:  Village of Clinton and surrounding rural area  
1 (one) position

• Area D:  Village of Cache Creek and surrounding rural area  
1 (one) position

• Area E:   Villages of Lytton, Spences Bridge and surrounding rural areas
1 (one) position    

• Village of Ashcroft      
1 (one) position  

• District of Lillooet        
1 (one) position

Nominations for a 4-year term (beginning November 2018) will be received by the Chief Election Officer or designated person from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 excluding statutory holidays and weekends.

Nomination packages may be picked up and completed forms may be delivered to the office locations listed below between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (offices may be closed from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.) Nomination documents are also available on the school district website, www.sd74.bc.ca  
  • Electoral Area “A”: Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Office, 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton
  • Electoral Area “B”: District of Lillooet, 615 Main Street, Lillooet    Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Office, 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton
  • Electoral Area “C”: Village of Clinton, 1423 Cariboo Highway, Clinton
  • Electoral Area “D”: Village of Cache Creek, 1389 Quartz Street, Cache Creek
  • Electoral Area “E”: Village of Lytton, 380 Main Street, Lytton or
  • Village of Ashcroft: Village of Ashcroft, 601 Bancroft Street, Ashcroft
  • District of Lillooet: District of Lillooet, 615 Main Street, Lillooet
  • School District Administration Office:  400 Hollis Rd, Ashcroft
QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified under section 32 of the School Act to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a trustee of the Board of Education if they meet the following criteria:

• Canadian citizen;
• 18 years of age or older on general voting day (October 20)
• resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
• not disqualified under this Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding office as a trustee, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
• A person whose term of office as trustee has expired or is about to expire is eligible for re-election if the person is otherwise qualified to be a trustee.
• At any one time, a person is not eligible to be nominated for or elected as trustee for more than one trustee electoral area for any one school district. 
 
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS
 
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2018 general local election, the expense limit for candidates during the campaign period is $5,000.  
 
 
THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2018 general local elections, the third party advertising expense limit is $750.
