Seasonal Lifeguard/Swim Instructor (4 Positions)
District of Lillooet REC Centre Pool, Lillooet, B.C.

The District of Lillooet REC Centre Pool is a 6-lane, 25 metre, indoor pool with a diving board and slide. The REC Centre also features an arena, gymnasium, weight room and climbing wall.

Scope: As a Lifeguard/Swim instructor you will provide a safe, fun and welcoming environment for users. You will perform routine maintenance such as cleaning change rooms and performing regular checks of water quality and equipment functions. You will be required to teach private, group and school lessons to all ages (mainly children). You will assist with planning and running special event swims such as games days and loonie swims. You must be comfortable with a flexible work schedule and shift-work, and have the ability to work both as a member of a team and unsupervised.

Hours of work: Part time to full time, shift work required, March 1 to June 15, 2019

Rate of Pay: $16.87 to $18.33 per hour, based on qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 16 years of age (minimum)
  • Current National Lifeguard Award- Pool option
  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
  • CPR “C” with Auto External Defibrillation (current within 1 year)
  • Standard First Aid or equivalent (current within 2 years)
  • WHMIS 
  • Aquatic fitness instructor
  • Pool Operators Level 1 or equivalent experience
  • LSI
