Water Quality Advisory - April 28, 2020

April 28, 2020
Recent sampling of the Seton River Water Source has indicated the presence of hydrocarbons in the Seton River Wet Well that supplies the PALL Filtration System. The Ministry of the Environment and the Interior Health Authority (IHA) have both been advised; and remedial efforts including an extensive program of additional sampling have already begun.
As of April 28, 2020, the source has been temporarily shut down until lab results show the new test samples are clear of contaminants. In the interim, IHA requires that the system be placed under a Water Quality Advisory until further testing has been completed to ensure the safety and quality of the drinking water. The District will advise when this Water Quality Advisory is rescinded.
It is recommended that babies, small children, and immunocompromised individuals consume only bottled water from an approved source until further notice. Should your tap water show any signs of sheen, smell or discoloration, please advise Public Works at 250-256-4289 or 250-256-3448.
