Swimming Lessons: 2019 Red Cross Swimming Lessons Schedule

Set #1: June 4-27, 2019, Tues & Thurs
Set #2: July 2-25, 2019, Tues & Thurs
Set #3: July 2-5 & 9-12, 2019, Tues-Fri (4 days a week)
Set #4: July 23-26 & July 30-August 2, 2019, Tues-Fri
Set #5: July 30-August 22, 2019, Tues & Thurs
Set #6: August 13-16 & 20-23, 2019, Tues-Fri

Unsure which level to register your child in? Free swimming assessments available during public swims, with the exception of Freakout Friday Everyone Welcome swims. Children under 7 years must be accompanied into the water by an adult during swim assessments.

Lifesaving Courses:

2019 Lifesaving Course Schedule

Junior Lifeguard Club

Dates: May 21-June 20 (Tues & Thurs)
Time: 6-7pm
Ages: 8-12 years
Cost; $95.00
Prerequisites: Ability to swim 25m non-stop and tread water 2 minutes.

Learn the skills it takes to be a lifeguard while having fun and setting your own goals. Friends can join together-there are no levels!. Members receive a JLC Waterlog to track their achievements.

Summer Session: July 2-August 8, Tues & Thurs 10:15-11:15am, $105.00

Bronze Medallion & CPR-A

Dates: July 2-11, 2019 (Tues & Thurs 4-8pm, Saturday July 6, 9am-4pm)
Cost: $150.00 (includes course manual)
Prerequisites: 13 years by the last day of the course.
100% attendance required. Please bring official proof of age to the first class (birth certificate, passport, care card, Driver's Licence, etc.).

Lifesavers learn tows and carries, defense and release methods, rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims, and demonstrate stroke efficiency and endurance in a 500 metre timed swim (20 lengths in 15 minutes or better).

Bronze Cross & CPR-C
Dates: July 23-August 1, 2019 (Tues & Thurs 4-8pm, Saturday July 27 9am-4pm)
Cost: $150.00 ($250.00 for Bronze Medallion & Cross)
Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion (need not be current). Bring Bronze Medallion card to first class.

Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Lifesavers increase their fitness with a 600 metre timed swim (24 lengths in 18 minutes or better), a rescue drill with line and loop, and rescues involving multiple victims and rescuers.

Facility Description

  • 25 metre indoor pool

  • ​6 lanes

  • ​Dry Sauna (under age 16 must be supervised by a parent)

  • ​1 metre diving board​

  • lockers available in changerooms- must bring own lock

  • ​portable handicap lift
     

Health & Safety Regulations

Supervision of Children:

  • Children age 6 and under must be accompanied into the water by an individual age 16+ and remain within arms reach.

  • Maximum of 3 (three) children age 6 (six) and under to one adult allowed.

Before Entering the Pool:

  • Ensure that you are not ill, including diarrhea, vomiting, open sores, bandages, head colds, discharging ears or noses, or infected eyes

  • Secure all personal items

  • Take a cleansing shower

  • Wear clean and appropriate bathing clothes

  • Remove outdoor footwear

  • Ensure those not toilet-trained wear a swim diaper

When in the Pool, please:

  • Respect all posted rules and instructions given by lifeguards and staff

  • Adhere to our Code of Conduct

  • Do not run, fight, or engage in activities that may cause injury

  • Do not dive into shallow water - safely dive only in designated area.

  • Do not do flips or back dives from pool deck

  • Do not eat, chew gum or bring glass into the pool area

  • Do not use or be under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants
